Do Waterproof Speakers Go Underwater

Waterproof speakers are becoming more and more popular not only because they are great for pool parties, but because of how small and portable they are. These speakers go where you go, whether it’s the pool, the beach or even in a tub.

Honestly if they are guaranteed waterproof then sure. I’m almost positive at some point somebody has submerged their waterproof speaker underwater and it still worked. But the better question is "How deep do bluetooth speakers go?" so I did some research…

Generally speaking, waterproof Bluetooth speakers are not designed to be submerged in water, as this could cause lasting damage to the device. The answer is that bluetooth speakers can work under water up to 3 feet which is probably more than enough for most people unless you’re really looking to listen while scuba diving! Many of these speakers come with su cup accessories in addition to straps that allow you to attach them to surfboards or even backpacks while hiking.

What is a waterproof speaker?

A waterproof bluetooth speaker is exactly what it sounds like it would be…a regular old bluetooth speaker that can get wet. They work just like any other bluetooth device – simply sync up your device to the speaker and play music wirelessly from pretty much anywhere!

These types of speakers typically have an IPX rating which indicates their ability to stand up against water. The higher the number, the better able the speaker is to handle water. A lower number means that the speaker is better suited to withstanding drier conditions.

IPX ratings are no guarantee against water damage, however. The best way to ensure that your waterproof speaker will remain safe from the wet stuff is to actually submerge it in water before using it. That way, you know for sure that the sound won’t stop when you dip it into your pool or take a walk on the beach (always remember: don’t leave your speakers out there!)

Do Air-Powered Speakers Work Underwater?

No! If you’ve ever seen an air-powered speaker and thought "Hey, I wonder if I could hook this thing up underwater", let me be the first one to tell you that would be a really bad idea. Air-powered speakers use a diaphragm to produce sound, much like the ones you would see in regular loudspeakers. These are comfortable things which are constantly exposed to air.

Waterproof or Water Resistant Speakers?

This is one of those questions that gets asked all the time, but for some reason never seems to get answered properly. If you’ve ever read through the description of a waterproof speaker and wondered "But will it work underwater?", then rest assured – you’re not alone!

The truth is that many bluetooth speakers advertise themselves as being waterproof, but they really only handle water resistance well. Many times these speakers can fall into situations where they end up getting wet despite having advertised themselves as being waterproof or water resistant.

A waterproof speaker, on the other hand, is capable of tolerating full submersion as long as there is no source of electricity hooked up to them. These speakers will be able to handle splashes and things like that just fine, but they’re not going to stand up against a waterfall or anything like that.

How do I know if my speaker can go underwater?

This is another question that gets asked all the time…and for good reason! When you see a speaker advertised as being waterproof, it’s often hard to tell whether or not it truly can go under water. Fortunately there are some great ways to make sure your speaker can survive your aquatic adventures:

  • If you haven’t owned the speaker before and it has an IPX rating, then you can submerge it in a bowl of water and see what happens. The only way that you’re going to have a problem is if the speaker stops playing music when submerged.

  • Another good method for testing a waterproof speaker is to put it in a bag of rice overnight. This will help draw out any residual moisture from the inside of the speaker casing.

  • Check with customer service or do some research online – most companies are more than happy to answer questions about their products. If they advertise their product as being waterproof, they should be ready to stand behind that statement!

Waterproof speakers are great not only because they allow you to listen to your favorite songs at the pool or beach, but because they can survive many other mishaps. Golfers love them for their ability to go anywhere, and runners will enjoy the freedom of listening to their favorite songs without having to worry about getting caught in the rain!

So are water-proof speakers just waterproof or do they also work underwater? The answer is that it depends on which speaker you’re talking about. Many of today’s water-proof speakers are actually water resistant instead of being truly waterproof. But most bluetooth speakers advertised as being waterproof should actually hold up fine against your aquatic adventures.

Do Waterproof Speaker Float On Water?

Yes, it can float on water. Our waterproof bluetooth speaker really surprised us the first time we tried using it up at the lake since you’d think that electronics and water don’t mix – but they do! We tested ours in a wading pool to be extra safe before taking them out onto the open water…when our friends saw how far they were able to float away from us while playing music, they all ended up buying their own speakers so they could have some tunes while swimming too.

Just be sure not to leave your bluetooth speaker in bright sunlight when you’re going swimming – especially if you have an IPX7 or IPX8 rating. These speakers are designed with outdoor use in mind, so there really isn’t any reason to let them bake in the sun all day. And always remember to keep your waterproof speaker away from the hot tub unless you want a nasty shock!

The one thing you’ll want to keep an eye on is battery life – if your phone runs out of power then your speaker will automatically shut off too. This makes sense since most phones aren’t going to be near a charger while you’re swimming or hanging out by the pool, but you will want to pay extra attention to your battery life if your phone isn’t nearby since it’s not just your music stopping during a power outage!
